The recent integration of the TechGrid at TTU opens several opportunities of research in this new and exciting area.
- mapping applications into the grid environment
- benchmarking network and computational aspects of the grid
- integrating the grid as a tool into the classroom.
Projects involving the TechGrid are carried out in collaboration with Dr. Phil Smith, director of the High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) at TTU . ...
The SAM project : The Sequential data Access via Metadata (SAM) project sponsored by the Fermi Lab is a joint project between the Computer Science Department, the Physics Department and the HPCC. The project involves a constant interaction with researches at the Fermi Lab involved in upgrading and maintaining the centralized database at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The High Energy Energy Physics Lab currently a SAM station at TTU is under the direction of Dr. Alan Sill . SAM related projects involve a gradual prototyping and decentralization of the metadata site at the Fermi Lab into a grid-based environment.
